What to Expect

Social Open Play is a welcoming start to the weekend—an opportunity to gather around the table without pressure or expectations. We’ll begin with a hosted happy hour before settling into relaxed, open mahjong play.

Evening Agenda

  • Guests are invited to arrive, settle in, and enjoy a hosted happy hour with up to two drinks and light bites.

  • We’ll transition into open play right at 6:30 p.m.. Guests are welcome to join tables freely and enjoy approximately two hours of casual, social mahjong.

  • We’ll close out the evening by wishing our mini-tournament players kind Charleston’s and plentiful jokers— a nod to our friends at Mahjong & Mics.

Remember you can “add-on” the tournament at registration!

  • Not at all. Many guests arrive solo or in pairs and join tables organically as the evening unfolds. But, if you have a group, it’s a great night out!

  • No, this evening is intentionally social and unstructured, with no formal instruction or scoring. If you are looking for competition, we will offer a mini-tournament the next day!

  • Your registration includes entry, up to two drinks, light bites, and open play for the evening. We bring the tables, tiles, mats and racks.

  • We’ll be playing with the 2025 National Mah Jongg League card. Guests are encouraged to bring their own card, though a limited number will be available to borrow.

  • We understand that plans can change, and we aim to be as accommodating as possible. Our refund policy follows a tiered approach:

    • Cancellations made 10 or more calendar days prior to the event will receive a full refund, minus payment processing fees.
    • Cancellations made within 5 calendar days of the event will receive a 50% refund, minus payment processing fees.
    • Cancellations made within 3 calendar days of the event are non-refundable.
