The Mockingbird Division
Competitive Play

Pace: 4 games per hour

Best for: Experienced players who enjoy a quicker pace and the strategic, competitive sport of the game.

The Vibe: High energy, sharp focus, and spirited competition. Play is fast-paced and strategic.

The Magnolia Division
Social Play

Pace: 2 games per hour

Best for: Social players, those who enjoy a “leisurely” game, and anyone looking to make new friends over the tiles.

The Vibe: Thoughtful play. Meaningful moments. Lasting memories.

Tournament Schedule

  • Players arrive, check in, and enjoy coffee, light grazing, and morning mimosas.

  • A brief welcome from the hosts and an overview of the day, including division-specific notes, and any rules of note.

  • Round 1 begins, players will have an hour to get through the required rounds

  • A small break between rounds to reset and get ready to join the next table.

  • Box lunches will include a selection of vegetarian or protein-based sandwiches or a salad with optional protein.

  • We close out the tournament with our final round.

  • We take our final break while we collect the final round scores and find our winners!

  • We’ll wrap up the day by celebrating division winners, awarding prizes, and closing out the weekend together. This will also serve as a bit of buffer to the day in the event breaks go long.

  • We will be playing with the 2025 National Mah Jongg League card—making this one of the final opportunities to compete with this card before the new release. Players are encouraged to bring their own card; limited extras will be available.

  • Choose the division that best matches your preferred pace of play. Magnolia Division allows more breathing room in the Charleston and through game play. Mockingbird Division requires a faster Charleston and decision making, making it more competitive.

  • Yes. Each division will be organized and scored independently with prizes awarded for winners in each division.

  • Absolutely, particularly the Magnolia Division, which is designed to be paced for those wanting more time to consider their Charleston selections and discards. But both divisions are intended to be welcoming, especially those that want a faster pace of play like in our Mockingbird division.

  • Your registration includes tournament entry, morning refreshments (including a mimosa), a boxed lunch, light bites through the day and an opportunity to win awards.

  • We know schedules can shift, and we do our best to be fair while planning a thoughtful experience for all guests. Our refund policy is as follows:

    10+ days before the event: Full refund, minus payment processing fees
    Within 5 days of the event: 50% refund, minus processing fees
    Within 3 days of the event: Refunds are not available
