What we can build for you

Private classes are designed around your group. Here are some of the most common ways people use them, but we are open to building something that does not fit neatly into a category.

Complete Beginners

Start from the very beginning. We teach the tiles, the card, and the game so your group leaves ready to play on their own.

Strategy Session

For groups that can already play and want to go deeper. We focus on hand selection, tile counting, and reading the table.

Refresher Class

Your group learned a while ago but it did not quite stick. We review the essentials and fill in the gaps that are holding you back.

Mixed Group

Some in your group are new, others have experience. We structure the class so everyone gets what they need at the same time.

How it works

After you reach out, we will schedule a short call or exchange a few messages to learn about your group. From there we put together a class plan and proposal, including pricing, format, and logistics.

We can come to you, host at our space, or work with a venue of your choosing. Whatever makes it easiest for your group to show up and enjoy the experience.

Frequently asked questions

What is the minimum or maximum group size?
We can work with groups as small as two people and as large as your space can accommodate. For larger groups we may bring additional instructors. Just tell us your headcount and we will figure it out.
Can you come to our home or venue?
Yes. We travel with everything needed to run the class, including tiles, cards, and all materials. You just need a table and some chairs.
How far in advance do we need to book?
Two to three weeks is ideal, but we understand timing does not always cooperate. Reach out as soon as you know you want to book and we will do our best to make it work.
Is this the same as the Mahjong Social Experience?
They are related but different. A Private Class is focused on instruction, teaching your group how to play or improving specific skills. The Social Experience is more of a hosted event centered around playing together, with lighter facilitation. We are happy to help you decide which fits your vision.
